About

Troy Chowanec

Blog Purpose:

Harp Light Homes is a Milwaukee Real Estate Blog designed to provide information about the real estate market in SE Wisconsin.  This can be the first time home buyer all the way to the seasoned investor looking to expand their portfolio.  This can be someone looking move to the area or someone who has lived here their whole life.

My goal is to be a watchdog and provide information on the local and national market.  By reading newspapers, magazines, Internet posts, watching the news and most importantly, telling you what I see in the field through my study of the market.  I hope to pull the most relevant information and provide it as a reference.  Statistics are important and I will provide you some statistical “snap-shots” of the market as well as anything else that I think may be important to keep you educated about SE Wisconsin’s real estate market.  If I see what I think is a good deal I will post the information for you to review.  I also hope to share some of the fun things that I do in the area to give you a feel for the community as well.

Background:

My name is Troy Chowanec, I am a local, born and raised in the area. I spent my grade school years in Oak Creek, Attended Whitnall High School. Outside of going to college at BYU-Idaho and serving 2 years in the Canada Winnipeg Mission for my church, I have spent my whole life in SE Wisconsin. My first apartment after college was in Franklin. I currently have an office with RE/MAX Realty 100 in Hales Corners and take residence in the bordering community of Greenfield with my wife and step daughter.

I started in Real Estate May of 2005. Besides the state mandated continuing education requirements to maintain a real estate license, I have completed the Buyer Specialization University Course through Star Power Systems, I have the ABR (Accredited Buyer’s Representative) designation as well as the GRI (Graduate REALTOR Institute) designation. I have successfully completed the CCIM Intro and CCIM 101 courses through the CCIM institute. I currently own my own home as well as share a 50% interest in a commercial property leased to a large retail organization. prior to getting licensed as a real estate agent, I spent several years care-taking a 12 family apartment building in Franklin as well as owned and leased my own residential real estate for 8 years. When it comes to running numbers on properties and looking at potential investments I like to think that I am knowledgeable and objective. I have also spent lots of time on residential home construction sites. I know most of the “ins and out” of a home. I have a working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing and construction methods. I would like to think that because of my background I am a very well-rounded and informed Realtor.
