Homes on the Cheap In Milwaukee? You be the judge!

The last post was one that I took from the Internet.  The reason I put it up was to use it as a comparison to the Milwaukee housing market.   After reading the article I was curious to know how our market stacked up.  Here is what I found according to the Metro-MLS here in Milwaukee.  I included 4 counties in the search: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha.

• There are currently no single family homes priced under $3,000
• There are 2 City of Milwaukee duplex homes priced under $3,000.
• There are a total of 39 single family and duplex homes for sale in the City of Milwaukee priced under $10,000.
• There are 135 single family and duplex homes for sale in the City of Milwaukee priced between $10,000 and $20,000 and 3 single family homes priced at $19,900 in the City of Racine.
• There are only 109 single family and duplex homes priced under $60,000 in all the counties named above excluding the City of Milwaukee.
• The City of Milwaukee alone has 759 single family and duplex homes priced under $60,000 at the moment.

The following list shows the number of homes for sale by community and an idea of the number of homes for sale in the lower price ranges.  West Allis seems to have the most inventory followed by Wauwatosa, Franklin, and Oak Creek.  I left the City of Milwaukee off the list as it dwarfs all these other communities in Milwaukee County.

• Brown Deer-61 total listings, 4 homes priced under $110,000, 10 priced between $110,000 & $150,000
• Cudahy-86 total listings, 7 homes priced under $100,000,  29 priced between $100,000 &  $150,000
• Fox Point-56 total listings, 3 priced under $200,000, 10 priced between $200,000 & $250,000
• Franklin-138 total listings, 3 priced under $150,000, 10 priced between $150,000 & $200,000
• Glendale-77 total listings, 7 priced under $150,000, 33 priced between $150,000 & $200,000
• Greendale-29 total listings, 7 priced under $160,000, 10 priced between $160,000 & $200,000
• Greenfield-82 total listings, 10 priced under $150,000, 36 priced between $150,000 & $200,000
• Hales Corners-29 total listings, 7 priced under $180,000, 19 priced between $180,000 &$250,000
• Oak Creek-127 total listings, 6 priced under $160,000, 24 priced between $160,000 & $200,000
• River Hills-19 total listings, 1 priced under $250,000, 4 priced between $250,000 & $500,000
• Shorewood-39 total listings, 2 priced under $200,000, 10 priced between $200,000 & $250,000
• South Milwaukee-76 total listings, 9 priced under $100,000, 11 priced between $100,000 & $130,000
• St. Francis-30 total listings, 2 priced under $100,000, 18 priced between $120,000 & $150,000
• Wauwatosa-189 total listings, 1 priced under $100,000, 13 priced between $115,000 & $150,000
• West Allis-284 total listings, 35 priced under $100,000, 38 priced between $100,000 & $125,000
• West Milwaukee-10 total listings, 3 priced under $100,000, 7 priced between $100,000 & $140,000
• Whitefish Bay-75 total listings, 4 priced under $175,000, 6 priced between $175,000 & $220,000
