Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganza
People are always looking for fun inexpensive things to do. This year we decided to go and see the City of Milwaukee / Milwaukee County tree lighting at Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee. The Family left the house at about 4:45pm and headed downtown. We made it there in plenty of time to find a parking space and walk to the park see the the tree lighting that happened at about 5:15. The city has a great freeway system which makes it easy to get downtown relatively fast. We then went to Pere Marquette Park on Old World Third Street (1 block west) for the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival Kick-Off Extravaganza! We had the choice to stand in an extremely long line and get free hot chocolate and cookies but opted to stand and wait for the show/fireworks. It was about 15 degrees out and kind of windy. It didn’t take long before everyone wished they had dressed a little warmer. We underestimated the cold and time that was going to be spent waiting for the fireworks and lights. Everyone was able to withstand the cold long enough to see the fireworks and turning on of the lights in the park. As quickly as the show was over we ran to the car for a much needed warming up. Next year I hope to be more prepared! This is something I would definitely do again!
